Why does Windows NT appear to have so many problems with my audio?

Windows NT 4.0 and earlier does not support the Direct Sound option. For 95, 98, 2000, ME, etc use DirectSound as the sound device...

on startMovie
the soundDevice = "DirectSound"
end

For NT, you will need to use Macromix (the default) which has the most problems, or if you have QuickTime 3 or greater installed you can use QT3Mix which has far better mixing and playback capabilities.
