Get the Xtra
Get complete control over MPEG, AVI, Quicktime, WAV, AIF, MP2 and MIDI files, with the ability to create and modify cue points in the authoring environment. DirectMediaXtra uses Microsoft´s ActiveMovie (or its successor, DirectShow) engine to display high-quality, high-performance MPEG video using only software decompression. You can also use DirectMediaXtra to display Quicktime .MOV files even if your user does not have Quicktime for Windows installed!*

DirectMediaXtra is the first Xtra that supports creation and editing of cue points directly in Director or Authorware. It is also tightly integrated into the authoring environment, with WYSIWYG preview and dynamic resizing and placement of media files. Among its features are control of an automatic toolbar, volume, balance, speed, cursor and full screen playback. Director 6 or later can also use the behaviors supplied with DirectMediaXtra for easy creation of buttons and slider bars.

Director and Authorware use the old MCI and VideoForWindows interface to control built-in playback of AVI and MPEG files. By using the DirectShow interface, DirectMediaXtra can use DirectDraw and DirectSound if these services are available in the playback machine. The developer takes advantage of a modern and robust interface, eliminating the configuration issues and driver incompatibilities that are common among different MCI MPEG drivers.

If you need additional information about MPEG playback technologies or help selecting the technology better suited for your project please consult the technotes GN001 and GN002 available at the support library.

If you are a registered user of one of any Tabuleiro products you are entitled to a discount when purchasing the full version of any other full product.
