Powerful 3D Object Conversion and Management Tool Makes 3D Production Easy
May 22, 2002. Meshbox 1.0, the most productive way to collect, manage and convert 3D objects is now available in beta form through the Meshbox.com website.
Meshbox is a high productivity tool for individual 3D artists and production houses. The Meshbox 1.0 beta will allow users to:
- Preview 3D objects using an OpenGL based real-time renderer
- Convert 3D objects between popular 3D formats, including Macromedia Shockwave 3D and Viewpoint Corporation's VET file formats.
- Create, search and sort Meshbox Collections, which are robust databases of 3D objects based on Paradigma Software's (http://www.paradigmasoft.com) Valentina technology. Each object can have up to 10 keywords associated it, allowing easy searching and sorting in three different layouts and automatically generate graphic previews.
- Create Meshbox Projects, which can contain individual 3D objects and Meshbox Collections. Meshbox Projects allow designers to locally manage 3D object collections on a project-to-project basis.
- Use batch operations to convert any number of 3D objects in different directories into folders of objects, new Meshbox Projects and new Meshbox Collections.
Meshbox 1.0 will be available for the Microsoft Windows platform, for systems with at least 16MB of RAM (additional RAM recommended for very large Collections).
Technology licensing and distribution partnerships of Meshbox are handled exclusively through Proactive International, LLC, the worldwide channel agency.
Additional usability features and 3D object formats will be supported in the final, released Meshbox 1.0 release. The beta version is only available through a special beta program. Final pricing to be announced. Meshbox 1.0 is expected to ship in Q2 2002. Additional information is available in English and Japanese through the Meshbox website at http://www.meshbox.com.
