DirectXtras is pleased to announce new versions of DirectEmail,
DirectOS and DirectFTP Xtras.

The upgrade is available free of charge to all registered users.
Instructions on how to obtain the free upgrade can be found at the
bottom of this announcement.

Fully functional evaluation versions of DirectEmail, DirectOS and
DirectFTP Xtras can be downloaded from our web site:

Each Xtra's on-line documentation includes a complete list of
changes, fixes and new features.

The Xtras are available for Director 5 and above, Authorware 4 and
above, and are compatible with Windows XP, ME, 2000, 9X, NT and MacOS.

Today we're also pleased to announce that all our Authorware Xtras
are fully compatible with the newly released Authorware 6.

About DirectEmail Xtra 2.01
---------------------------

DirectEmail is a cross-platform, easy to use Scripting Xtra for
Macromedia Director, Authorware and Shockwave that provides applications
with the ability to send e-mails.

By using DirectEmail Xtra, Director, Authorware and Shockwave
applications can easily generate and send e-mails as well as validate
e-mail addresses.

Emails can be sent as either plain text or rich HTML format, in various
languages, and can include file attachments.

DirectEmail Xtra can send e-mails through a relaying mail server, or
directly to the recipient's email account, taking on the role of a mail
server.

DirectEmail Xtra is Shockwave safe, so it can also be used with
Shockwave 7 or later and when safety features in Director are turned on.

When the Xtra is in safe mode it can attach files to the e-mail
through a built-in 'open file' dialog box.

New features in this release allow Shockwave applications on the web
to attach files from the Shockwave support folder (DswMedia folder)
without displaying a dialog box.

An auto downloadable Shockwave safe package of DirectEmail Xtra is
also available. It is a compressed, small sized (less than 30K) version
of the Xtra, that can be downloaded automatically from a web site to the
user's local machine whenever needed, and once installed provides
Shockwave applications on the web with the ability to send e-mails.


About DirectOS Xtra 2.02
------------------------

DirectOS Xtra is a powerful cross-platform Scripting Xtra for
Macromedia Director and Authorware, which provides direct access to
the Windows and MacOS operating systems.


By using DirectOS Xtra Director and Authorware developers can:

- Retrieve the operating system type and exact version
- Set and get screen resolution and color depth
- Create, display, and operate a message box
- Find an application associated with a specific file type
- Create, display, and operate 'open', 'open multiple' and 'save' file
  selection dialogs
- Manipulate external application's windows
- Set cursor position or confine it to a rectangular area of the screen
- Generate a mouse click for any of the 3 mouse buttons
- Check whether any one or more keys are being held down
- Change desktop wallpaper and pattern

About DirectFTP Xtra 2.02
-------------------------

DirectFTP is a cross-platform, easy to use Scripting Xtra for Macromedia
Director, Authorware and Shockwave, which provides implementation of the
FTP protocol.

By using DirectFTP Xtra, Director, Authorware and Shockwave applications
can log into an FTP server, get directory listings and files
information, retrieve files, upload files and perform other file and
directory operations, such as create, move, rename, append and delete
file or directory.

DirectFTP Xtra is Shockwave safe, so it can also be used with Shockwave
7 or later and when safety features in Director are turned on.

When the Xtra is in safe mode it can upload and download files through
built-in 'save-as' and 'open' dialog boxes from/to anywhere in the local
machine.

New features in this release allow Shockwave applications on the web
to upload and download files from/to the Shockwave support folder
(DswMedia folder) without dialog boxes.

Free Upgrades
-------------

Registered users of DirectEmail, DirectOS and DirectFTP Xtras can
request a free upgrade by sending an e-mail to
upgrades@directxtras.com from the same e-mail account used to register
the Xtra(s) on and including their serial number(s) in the e-mail body.
Requests from non registered e-mail accounts would not be accepted.

We encourage interested developers to download trial versions of our
Xtras and look forward to your comments, suggestions, ideas and any
